This course aims to equipping the students with knowledge of the biochemical and metabolic processes that can either lead to or result in disease. At the end of this course, the student should be able to describe the biochemical, endocrine and metabolic processes that lead to the management and diagnosis of disease. The student will also be able to describe the Biochemistry of neoplastic disorders, the principle of clinical toxicology; and demonstrate the ability to use laboratory methods in chemical pathology.
The chemical pathology course is taught in the third year of undergraduate medicine training and is conducted through lectures, small group teaching, tutorials, case – based learning sessions and practical sessions.
